Starter: The first few days in Korea (Not anymore)
It was exactly a month and a day ago since I first arrived in Korea. I have planned to write out journals on my trips in here while I am doing my student exchange program which however did not turn out the way I wanted it to be as I kept on forgetting to write anything or even take note of any highlights of the day.
However, here I am, after a month and a day long of staying here, here I am, deciding that I should really start writing things out before I start forgetting things that actually happened here, leaving all memories simply as memories which I could never guarantee of it staying forever in my head considering I have a such a goldfish memories.
From now, I should start writing out with things that happened the whole month I have been here day by day, or event by event. I definitely hope it will be a binge update. Despite it being only a month since I came, as I kept on emphasizing, a lot of occasions has been happening to me, day by day, it felt like a rainbow-filled life.
On the very first day we arrived in Incheon, August 28th, it was so early in the morning, my back aches so bad for staying in such an uncomfortable 5 hours long flight plane. Being hungry was definitely an obvious thing for me as I am such a big eater. It took us long enough to decide whether to take the airport bus or to take the taxi. Our very first destination on that very day was to meet my online friend, Maerin, which I've been planning to meet ever since I got my exchange program placement as she is staying in Korea for a year since early this year for her Korean Language Study. After deciding, well, more like after waking Maerin up, we decided to go on with the bus, although we both (Hamisah and I) had one huge and heavy luggage and another hand-carry yet still super heavy luggage.
It took almost an hour or so, if I remembered correctly for us to arrived to her place area. The bus stopped right at the big road and we actually had to carry all our stuff for over 15mins to get to Maerin's house. It was honestly embarrassing and at the same time, somehow very scary for me as I had such a large luggage that I do not even know how I actually could carry them all the way as it was more than half as big as myself. At the time, I was definitely so thankful to Maerin for being so helpful, bringing my huge luggage for me despite it being our very very first meeting.
We had our very first breakfast in Korea in a convenient store nearby maerin's place. Maerin had some bento food thingy while Misah and I had one triangle kimbap each and a bowl of Rabeokki that we shared. It was kind of spicy for both of us, especially when having it with an empty stomach. It was such a scenery, since it was my very first time trying to converse in Korean Language although I had such a limited korean language skills. It was a funny thing, as I bought a grapefruit juice that was too bitter that it could not be get rid off even by drinking other drinks.
Such a fruitful things to experience on the very first day in Korea, in Seoul. Although we could only hang out with Maerin for less than two hours because she had to catch a bus to not miss her flight back to Malaysia on the very same day, we still had fun on our first meeting. She gave me such a good first meeting impression but I cannot be so sure of what kind of impression did I give her.
Right after hanging out, she get to help us get the Taxi to take us to our Hotel that was actually only 6 mins away from her place. It was such a short ride and the taxi driver was kind to us despite the language barrier, he gave us his candies and talked for a bit.
We arrived to our Hotel safe and sound, our room got upgraded to deluxe although we booked the twin room, it was so nice. We had two single bed, a foot massage and all. It was so nice. The first thing that I was impressed of was the bidet, which apparently is very common in here. It was my very first time seeing it since you can hardly ever find that in Brunei. It was weird but it was amusing for us.
The first night, it was pouring that we actually had to buy an umbrella, we were so wet but we still could enjoy the night view of Myeongdong, the region that we were staying at in Seoul. It was great, the nice view of all the street vendors, the street food and everything, it was just simply wonderful. Wonderful is actually an understatement, no words could possibly describe how I felt at the time. It was like a dream come true to finally get out of South East Asia and came all the way here, to see all those people who were not of my race and could not even speak English or my native language, Malay. It was weird but at the same time, interesting.
So Now, I should say, picture speaks louder than word as I will just stop writing and will simply include a few photos of our experiences in Myeongdong altogether.
